The RTI aims to allow citizens to ask for records, documents, circulars, contracts, reports, papers, emails, memos and all other information held in print or electronic form from the public authorities, i.e. all the governing bodies. All the administrative levels of the government will have a CPIO who will give the required information to people who file an application or a query under the RTI Act. application can even be on simple plain paper. Applicants however need to ensure that their contact details including name and correspondence address appear on the application. Reasonable assistance can be expected from the CPIO if you decide to give your application in writing. The law mandates that information be provided in 30 days. If this does not happen, you can file an appeal. Section 6(3) of the RTI Act says that where the information in an application (complete or a part of the application) is available with another Public Authority, then the complete application or such part of the application shall be transferred under sec. 6(3) to that other Public Authority under intimation to the applicant within 20 days. You have to file the RTI application before Concerned Village office. Village office can issue the information as per the records available to them. So when the application is received , the public information officer .Take a photocopy of the application and keep one with you for future reference. Send your application by post or hand it in personally to the department concerned. Don’t forget to get an acknowledgement

You can submit application under RTI before the Public Information Officer attached to the Village office in which the land situates or make application before the Sub Registrar Office concerned. For both application, it is advisable to mention the survey numbers of properties for ready reference.

Take an encumbrance certificate from concerned SRO, you can get details of ownership. Previous owner etc.. When you apply make sure that you are taking it for last 30 years. Hope this will help you out.
