25-Jul-2024 (In Civil Law)
I am the plaintiff in a suit against a bank regarding a property case where someone forged property papers that were in my possession to obtain a bank loan. The status of the case is 'disposed' with the nature of disposal as 'contested-decreed with costs.' What does this mean? Please provide the meaning of 'contested-decreed' in Hindi, Kannada, and English.

A contested decree is a final court order issued in a case where the parties had opposing positions and did not reach an agreement, necessitating a trial or hearing. It indicates that the court's decision was made after examining the evidence and arguments presented by both sides.

Hi, however, I didn't get your case brief in a proper manner. But I can answer your main query. The contested decree means that the suit was contested by the other party. It's not an ex-parte decree. (One sided) Hope you got my point!

The order is in your favour and costs has also been awarded to you. Best would be to apply for the orders and then see what is specifically ordered in the case against you. Read the order carefully. To decide future course of action.

Generally it is the procedure of filling civil suit that when civil suit is filled then the summons are issued to the second party I.e.defendant. if the second party does not appear despite the service of notice then the court proceeds ex party against the defendant and suit is decreed as ex party in favour of the plaintiff. And if the second party appears and contests the case then it is called a contested case or contested decree
