respected officers of court one complaint against my sister registerd with ssp rural in 25/7/2012. i went with my sister to s.s.p office to record statement . after statement police officer orderd to dispose off the complaint . no further action was taken matter was of property. today i went to get copy of that complaint VIA R.T.I .police tolde me record was destroyed but still i submitted r.t.i ... tell me is record legaly can be destroyed after 9 years or they were fooling me. ....s.s.p marked that complaint to economic offence wing . EOW OFFICER DISPOSED THAT COMPLAINT AND WRITTERN FILE TO S.S.P OFFICE PLZZZZ HELP MATTER RELATES TO PUNJAB POLICE
At this stage you can claim the copy of relevant rules from the police authorities vide which they can distract the record. If the rules provide for destruction then it is alright, otherwise you can pursue your matter as per the law.
