Well, you need to reply to that Legal Notice by taking that Notice seriously! Might, he can pursue a case against you, a fake case, as a retaliatory tactic, considering you raised issue in Society against him, that, he has not been paying Maintenance!

You're advised to respond to the legal notice, addressing allegations and outlining your position. Simultaneously, take steps to address the neighbor's non-payment of maintenance charges. Document evidence of non-payment and consider filing a complaint or seeking legal recourse for recovery of dues. By responding to the notice and addressing maintenance disputes, you can protect your interests and work towards a resolution. This approach allows you to address both the legal notice and the maintenance dispute effectively, helping to mitigate potential consequences and find a solution.

It is advisable that you first respond to the legal notice received from your neighbour through a lawyer, denying all false allegations of harassment and threats, especially if you have not indulged in any such acts. You may also place on record your own grievances – such as the neighbour’s failure to contribute to maintenance and continuous disruption in peaceful living – and document any past complaints, communication, or evidence (like CCTV footage, witnesses, or written complaints to the society). If the matter escalates, you can also file a police complaint or seek an injunction from the local civil court against your neighbour’s unwarranted actions. Maintain all records and act calmly through legal channels to protect yourself from false allegations.

In order to provide a useful suggestion, I would need to read the Legal notice atleast. You will need to check the gravity of the allegations that your neighbour has made on you in the legal notice. Accordingly, you should take action. in case you require any further legal assistance you may contact me.
