man blamed for false actions women blackmailing to file a case

17-Apr-2023 (In Civil Law)
I'm a 30 years single woman. I whatsapp a woman calling her a prostitute as she was blaming a 58 years old man that he is abusing her by phone. But the fact is the man was irritated by woman by her physical misbehaviour and one day call her to discuss about that. The woman dramatically presents this situation to get sympathy and proofs that the man was wrong. Thats why to realize that woman she made a wrong step, i msg her as I respect the man just like my father. Now, with the msg she wants to file a case against me and the man. is it possible. What should we do?

Yes she can file a case against you as you have committed a crime under Section 66A of the IT (Amendment) Act, 2008 prohibits the sending of offensive messages though a communication device (i.e. through an online medium). The types of information this covers are offensive messages of a menacing character, or a message that the sender knows to be false but is sent for the purpose of ‘causing annoyance, inconvenience, danger, obstruction, insult, injury, criminal intimidation, enmity, hatred, or ill will.’ If you’re booked under Section 66A, you could face up to 3 years of imprisonment along with a fine.
