Is it possible to make an affidavit?

29-Jun-2023 (In Civil Law)
My late grandfather's name (Mother's father) in my mother's matriculation certificate and mark sheet is spelt wrong. My mother passed matriculation in the year 1982 from West Bengal Board of Madrasah Education. After 37 years its very tough to change her father's name in mark sheet and certificate. Suppose my grandfather's name is Mr X Y Z, and in certificate it is printed as Mr Y Z. So my questions are 1) Can my mother make an affidavit stating "In my matriculation certificate my father's name is misspelt. Mr X Y Z and Mr Y Z is one and same person". 2) And will that affidavit be useful if she has to show the matriculation certificate somewhere?

I know it's not possible to for you to change the father's name of your mother. Yes she can make an affidavit affirming the wrongly spelt name of her father because this is the only way she can rectify and I am sure this affidavit can be used where ever you want.

Affidavit is a declaration in writting and such document authenticates by rhe notary public or first Class Magistrate
so it depends where you will submit your mothers document and that department shell demand affidavit then the work is done otherwise your mothers voter ID card or Aadhar card you want to change then you have to go for Gazetted.
