Denied an admission in Delhi university can I file in supreme court
09-Aug-2023 (In Civil Law)
Hello, please help me regarding my admission issue, I have been denied an admission in Delhi university on the basis of some gap years, and according to UGC you can join any undergraduate course before 25, is this not a violation of my fundamental right, should I file a petition in supreme court of India.
Firstly, you can serve a notice to the university seeking admission. In case they still refuse admission, basing on their written refusal, you can file a writ petition in the High Court seeking direction to the University to admit you.
Your right upon denial of admission depends upon various factors including the rules of university for the particular course, etc.
In case the denial is arbitrary, a more appropriate option will be filing a writ petition before Delhi High Court.
You would also have an added option (in case High Court rejects) thereafter to approach Supreme Court.
I know of a similar case which had been filed a couple of years back in High Court, but am not aware about the outcome of the same.

With a view to file a petition in Supreme Court, one can also go in a writ in the High Court of Delhi as your concern in only limited to the University of Delhi and it might also be a very valid ground.
Hello!
Sounds like you have good case. However, I suggest you approach hon'ble Delhi High court instead of Supreme court. As always better opinion can be given after seeing your documents and analysing it.

Hello,
The government aided universities which are not adhering to the norms and standards of the UGC shall be liable for violation of fundamental rights.
I suggest you file a Petition in the HC.
Thank you.
