Can i file defamation case against my ex girlfriend's parents

Hi, I was engaged with this girl. Because of some issues we got splited. After 6 months I got engaged with another girl. Now previous girl parents went to the current girl's house and bad mouthed me. Current girl and her parents didn't took this seriously. But still it affected me personally. Can I file defamation case? What can I expect from this case?
You must prove how the defamatory act caused you public shame.the future wife of yours also did not believe their version.so you have no loss.they did not speak about you publicly.you also have to prove you have public status,etc.you cannot expect fruitful result,if you still wish to file a case
