Amendment of Prayer in Civil Original Suite

27-Oct-2023 (In Civil Law)
In the beginning of the suit, a plaint was filed under Order VII Rule 1, it included prayer describing reliefs to be given at the time of judgement, however, I needed to add more points into the prayer, how and under which CPC law is the amendment of prayer is allowed, and what considerations do I need to be aware of regarding the amendment of prayer?

You can file petition under Order VI, Rule 17 to amend the prayer. You need to keep in mind that appropriate pleadings must included in the plaint according to the amendment in the prayer. Also state reasons as to why you did not do it while filing the plaint.

You've to file interlocutory application/petition before the court under Order VI Rule 17 of CPC in order to amend the pleadings of your plaint orelse you may also amend the prayer itself. But the same could have been done before commencement of trial
