Accused by neighbour to defame our entire family

Sir! I would to tell u that a girl has ran away with a boy and the boy had come to his maternal house. Due to being relative of that family, we are alleged for what we did nothing. The girls family has mentioned all relatives name to be accused to defame. What should we do now in this situation?
on the above mentioned query please gave statements in the concerned police station. and if the boy and girl is major then they file immediately their statement in the concerned police station for their families security

Dear Sir.. If boy and girl are major then there is nothing to worry about. But if someone is putting false allegations on you, then you can take legal actions against them.
