What is the legal remedy against cheque bounce

i gave cheqe when he was partner after settlement of three years later he bounced the cheqe and he send notice and replied details that the cheque was given for company use but he misused what is next action
First you must send a reply immediately stating what has actually happened. Also ask him to return the cheque along with any other cheque if he has it. If possible you can also give a compliant to the Police. If you are in Chennai you can contact me for further advice and assistance.
