I am not an eyewitness but my friend mentioned my name

Hello, One of my friend has filed case under 138 against his business partner. He (my friend) has mentioned my name (without my knowledge/concern) as an eyewitness in his statement. But in fact, I'm not the eyewitness and I don't want to involve in all these matters. So, is it mandatory for me to attend the Hon. court?

Untill and unless you are called for cross examination you are not required to go. If you are summoned then you have to appear before the court. Rest if you want you can mention at you will whether you are eyewitness or not.
