Cheque Bounce Case in Cuttack Odisha

I issued a cheque of Rs. 50, 000 ( fifty thousand ) to my friend. But he inserted another zero in number and made it Rs. 5, 00, 000 ( Five Lakhs ),. He has filed case against me now. What can I do.
Your case squarely falls under Section 87 of the Negotiable Instrument Act. Material Alteration makes the cheque void. Prove material alteration before the court. The offence under Section 138 of Negotiable Instrument Act is only respect of valid cheques. Material alteration makes the cheque invalid.
