Q: Can any startup deals with photocopied books run legally
We have a startup named "Bunk n Book" and we provide compiled photocopied books to DU students. Till now we were working part time but now planning to make it a full time business and we are concerned if we will face legal issues due to photocopy thing. We are working same like Rameshwari Photocopy of Delhi University who recently won the case against international publisher in high court. So does that means we can also legally do this business now ??

As you are already aware about the decision by the Delhi High Court in favor of the Rameswari photo copy shop and its conclusion, please note, the decision was on basis of extent of justified purpose. Please keep in mind that the aforesaid defendant was licence holder of DU and the plaintiff had withdrawn the case from further processing. Keeping these points in mind you may go for this business. But, there are chances of objections which may come from different copyright holders in future.
