Q: How to withdraw cyber crime complaint in India?
Hello, I filed a cyber crime complaint against an individual who was impersonating a female on Telegram. He offered jobs related to male sex work and collected money from people. I paid Rs. 1499, but after deciding not to pursue the job, I requested a refund, and he blocked me. I filed a cyber crime complaint online and informed him about it. Since then, he has refunded my money, and now I would like to withdraw my complaint. As a student, I prefer avoiding legal complications. Can you guide me on how to withdraw a cyber crime complaint online? Is it necessary to visit the cyber police station for this process? I received a confirmation that my complaint was successfully received by the cyber cell. Will there be any charges against me? Thank you.
Advocate Alok Verma answered
It’s simple—just visit the cyber police station and inform them that you wish to withdraw the complaint, as the matter has been resolved. They will process your request and close the complaint. There are no charges for this; it’s completely free.
