Lawyer asking for share in land he helped me to sell. is it legal?

22-May-2023 (In Property Law)
I sold some land. My lawyer wants 1% of the sale. That's 1 lakh per acre I sell. I'm selling 14 acres. Is this right? I've found out that he is trying to extort more money from me. How can I get rid of him?

You can tell him that you are not going to consider any such demand and if he in his personal capacity tries to persuade you then you can either file a complaint against the said advocate in the State Bar Council. However, if he threatens you then you can register a FIR against him for extortion. Also, if the said demand is for the remuneration of his services then, you should pay him the consideration as agreed earlier. No one can force you to sell your land or provide commission to anyone if you do not want to.
