My father had taken a house on lease for fifty years. Subsequently it was detected that before giving lease to my father the owner had already sold the said building to a person who had subsequently sold the same to another person. My father has died and we are staying in other places..Period of lease has also expired. Now the present landlord is constructing multi storied building demolishing the old structure Is the present landlord compelled to give us flats free of cost in the proposed building. as we had once stayed there. The main thing in this case is the period of lease has expired and the other thing is that you have not renew your lease period, also you have vacated the property. Now in this stage the landlord have every right to utilize his /her property.He/she is not compelled to give u flats free of cost.

Prior to taking the house on lease, your father ought to have scrutinized the title of the property to see whether the landlord had the right to enter into the lease. If you are still living there, you can file suit for declaration that you are a lawful tenant.
