The fact is that even she has an equal responsibility to bring up the child and when her husband is incapable to maintain the child, it becomes the duty of the mother to bring up the child especially when she is drawing a handsome salary.
The husband can reject her demand on the above ground too.
In fact if the wife says that she cannot maintain the child, he husband can ask for the custody of the child so that he need pay his wife to maintain the child.
