Can a hindu couple married in India get a divorce decree in New York.

11-Jun-2023 (In Divorce Law)
A hindu couple married in India as per Hindu custom for 4 years and living and working in New York wants a mutual consent divorce petition filed in New York. Is this valid in India. Will there be any problem for the girl to get her second marriage registered in India. Any formalities to be completed in India if the divorce decree is awarded in the US. The girl is well qualified and working in USA. Can she claim any alimony, share of the husbands assets, compensation etc. Any special care to be taken by the girl? Can a divorce petition be filed in India and US simultaneously.

Yes. But such person applying for divorce in NY must inform the court avout the laws with which he/she was married. Also, once the decree is received, it must be executed in India, in order for the same to be successfully validated.
