Mumbai property will drafting service advice

06-Sep-2023 (In Wills / Trusts Law)
Hello, We are based in Uk and we got properties in Mumbai and other location in India. How can we make a joint will for the properties and policies? Or will it be a separate one for my partner who got property in Mumbai and a separate one for myself if I have property in Maharashtra and not Mumbai ? What is the procedure for will draft and register in India?

Hello,

If you are citizen of India you can register a will with local ward office or court. You can make a joint will irrespective of other factors. You can have it registered anywhere in the jurisdiction of the state. You may contact me for further info.

This is my response to you:
1. You can make one Will for both the properties;
2. It will not create problems regarding multiplicity of Wills;
3. Approach a local lawyer and draft the same;
4. The Will need not be registered;
5. If it is registered it has more authenticity;
6. You can register at the office of the Sub-Registrar of the property premises.
