SLP filed against me, as Respondent. Do I need a lawyer on the Admission Hearing? Or only after notice is issued?”

Well, if you hire an Advocate, then he can get the opposite side's Case dismissed at the Admission Stage itself, i.e, before getting the case admitted on board! It is your choice but, i.e, to appoint a lawyer at the admission Stage or once you are going to served with the notice!

Order XXI Rule 15 of the Supreme Court Rules, 2013, says a party can appear in person to oppose an SLP. There is no statutory compulsion to engage a lawyer solely for filing a reply/resisting admission. An accused/defendant can file a reply affidavit opposing the SLP without a lawyer. The affidavit must argue why the SLP deserves dismissal (e.g., no substantial question of law, concurrent findings by lower courts). It needs to. be filed within 30 days of receiving the SLP notice (Order XX Rule 1).
