Relative is not returning money as per commitment

My life saving amount @16lakh given to our relative who was badly in need of money. And he promised to return in month along with interest which I get on FD. But now he is avoiding to return. I am senior citizen and money is transferred through net banking. Out of 18 lakhs he is returned only 2 lakhs. How to recover this money through agency or FIR is the solution. Or legal notice will help. All commitment to return money was verbal since he was close to us.

sir it is advisable to send a legal notice for payment of the amounts due.
thereafter in the same notice we can write to him that if he fails to pay the amount within the stipulated time we will be approaching the civil courts.
