Receipt of Police Advisory letter

17-Jan-2025 (In Recovery Law)
Have received a police advisory letter for in-person appearance at police station tomorrow morning. My home renovation contractor has executed painfully shoddy work after 4 month delay and handed over possession, I have held back payment and have insisted on making good the shortcomings, he seems to have chosen to file complaint for recovery instead to making good on the work. Pls advise.

You need to go to police station and make the correct statements of how the work was delayed and was not done properly and hence in deficiency of service it has been held back. Make sure to put up the correct and entire details of the situation in your statement.

Well, I can defend you before the concerned Police Station, by filing a reply on your behalf, that, your's case is a Civil Case and as such, Police cannot interfere in it and if Police does so, then, it will be an illegal act on the part of Police. The Contractor needs to go either to Civil Court or Labour Court for the Recovery of Payment from you, as he has approached a wrong forum - Police, that's why, Police cannot provide the Contractor any legal remedy.
