Procedure to recover loan from friend who is not returning the same

One of my friend has taken 4 lakh rupees as a loan from me. It was a bank transaction in the month of january-18 with a promise to return the money within 2 months. Now, he is not returning my money. Can I take any legal action against him under a cheating or 420 case?
Yes definitely you can take legal. Action against him if he denying to pay and not ready to give back the loan amount taken you can file a case against him u/s 420 and 406 of IPC in nearby police station
