Non-Payment of ₹15,000 After 3D Rendering Work

10-Jul-2025 (In Recovery Law)
did 3D rendering work for a client. I quoted ₹45k but reduced it to ₹20k as she said her father has cancer. She paid ₹5k upfront. After delivering final renders and doing revisions, she ghosted me. I have chats, renders, and proof of follow-ups. There’s no written contract, but I want to send a legal notice. Can I recover ₹15k legally with just WhatsApp proof? Will a legal notice via email/WhatsApp work?

Dear sir Yes you can recover your money through the relevant evidences you have. You can also file a criminal case for the infringement of contract under relevant sections of BNS and can file a civil recovery suit as well. Thank you

First of all rather than going legally you should serve her a legal notice and in that notice you can write that either pay my money or face legal action which will be at your own risk. After that if she fails to give you a satisfactory reply then you can anytime file a recovery suit in the court to claim your money back along with compensations.

Sir, you can definitely get your money through a strong legal notice. As to proofs, Whatsapp chats and payment thereof are valid proof of formal engagement (based on what exact messages were exchanged). However, sending a legal notice by whatsapp or email doesn't convey a strong message compared to a formal physical copy. If you have any doubt, feel free to reach out

In the court of law, WhatsApp chats are also classified as proof of evidence. However, in order to recover the money, you have to send a legal notice which is the first and foremost step. Also the notice has to be served within time.

Yes, you can recover the ₹15,000 legally even without a formal contract, as WhatsApp chats, renders, and payment proofs can serve as valid electronic evidence under the Indian Evidence Act and IT Act. You may issue a legal notice via email or WhatsApp if you have no physical address—this is accepted by courts in many cases. Ensure the notice clearly mentions the work done, payment agreed, amount due, and timeline for payment.
