Money not being returned by ex

I was dating a guy and I gave him money to invest in stocks in his demat account, I have proofs of these transactions on payments app and WhatsApp, now when I have broken up with the guy and when I am asking my money back with the profit that is there on the stocks he is saying I will not give you the profit, it is mine and he is saying he will give me only the money I invested at that time, and saying that the profit made is his, can I go file a Police complaint against him for this

Hai.. initially you can issue him a legal notice stating all the facts and calling upon him to pay invested money along with profit based on the promises made between you both. if he fails to return, then can initiate a legal course of action
