Money given to ex & his mother & they are not returning it

I have given money to my ex' mother & ex, my ex cheated me & now with someone else, also while in relationship he abused me beaten me, now his mother is not returning the money only giving promises & my ex refused to give money to me also on Feb 11 2026 threatened me of beating..how can I proceed with can I file FiR against my ex & can I send legal notice to them for money?

Yes, you can take both criminal and civil action. If he assaulted, abused or threatened you on 11 Feb 2026, you can file an FIR for offences such as assault, criminal intimidation and harassment. If police do not register FIR, you may approach the Magistrate under Section 156(3) CrPC. Regarding money, if you transferred funds through bank or have chats/proof showing it was a loan and not a gift, you can first send a legal notice demanding repayment within a fixed time. If they fail, you may file a civil suit for recovery within 3 years from the date of cause of action. Preserve all evidence like bank statements, messages, call recordings and medical papers, if any.

Yes you can give them legal notice and seek FIR on the basis of criminal breach of trust and cheating, but first you need confession of your ex- boyfriend and also from your ex boyfriends mother, on the basis of that evidence you can make the claims

You can file an FIR under BNS for physical abuse and criminal intimidation. For the recovery of money, send a formal legal notice first; if they fail to pay, file a recovery suit in civil court as per the concerned provisions of law.
