You can still proceed legally. Online transaction details (bank statement, UPI record, NEFT proof) are valid documentary evidence to show transfer of money. The burden will be on you to prove that it was a loan and not a gift. First, send a legal notice demanding repayment within a fixed period. His refusal in call recording can support your case. Preserve the original recording and device. If he fails to pay, file a civil suit for recovery within 3 years from the date of refusal or last acknowledgment. If you can show dishonest intention from beginning, criminal complaint for cheating may also be examined, but civil recovery is the primary remedy.

You can give him legal notice for the recovery of the money given to him and file a criminal complaint against him if he is denying the case that he will not return you the money he can be arrested for cheating and criminal breach of trust now, if you two were in a relationship and he broke up the promise of marriage this constitutes as rape in Indian laws, he can also be punished in that as well if you pursue this criminal complaint

Online transaction logs and call recordings are valid evidence under the Indian Evidence Act. You should first send a formal Legal Notice for recovery. If he fails to pay, you can file a Summary Suit under Order 37 of the CPC for faster recovery of the debt.
