Money debited from Union bank acocunt thorugh IMPS online fraud

02-Dec-2025 (In Recovery Law)
My father lost ₹16.46L in an online banking fraud about 10 days ago. He received unexpected OTPs and immediately alerted the bank. FIR was filed and Cybercrime status shows “Under Process,” and banks have frozen ₹1,90,108. What should I do now to recover the frozen amount? Should we wait for police/cybercell, approach the bank/ombudsman, or take legal action? How long does recovery usually take?

4. If there is unjustified delay, you may initiate a Writ Petition before the High Court seeking directions for release of the frozen funds and expeditious investigation. The recovery timeline varies from 30 to 120 days, depending on inter-bank coordination and investigation status, but your freezing order substantially strengthens your claim. Do not remain passive; proactive legal follow-up with police and the bank is essential to secure full recovery.
