in that you have compliant the police station which you have done and after that you have to ask the police officer who have appoint for this case called as investigation officer thereafter he will give you report if he registered the FIR not the complaint on a plain page in that this is formality which was done by the police officer. so you go to police station again and ask what is the status of Complaint or FIR which you have done. thereafter you are not satisfied go for an application in the court for the complaint by protest petition.

Lost articles/documents can be reported with the police. For example in Delhi, you are require to fill up a form that can be found at http://www.delhipolice.nic.in/register.html.

This is not a case of theft where the police would carry out an investigation or a culprit could be identified. Unfortunately our legal system is already over burdened with more serious issues which also take up a significant amount of time to be resolved.

The exercise you are suggesting is not economically viable. The possibility of finding your phone at this point of time is minimal and the resources required to pursue such a matter would cost the public exchequer more than a new phone would.
