Lent amount recovery from individual

I gave 1.5 lakh amount through a personal loan from my account to my friend. He agreed to pay the emi every month. But last three months he is not sending any amount to me. I am only paying the loan. when ever I am calling he is not listening the words and giving faking promises like today or tomorrow I will send. But nothing happened for the past three months. Is it possible to file case against him? I am having only his Whatsapp chat history about the loan.

hi was there any agreement or promissory note when taking the amount on loan by your friend and what was the mode of payment made to him and you could send him legal notice to return the money and if he failed to do so you could file civil suit to recover amount
