I lent money to a lady, and now she’s making me chase her to get it ba

25-Feb-2025 (In Recovery Law)
I lent Rs. 2 Lakhs to a lady in December, with the understanding that she would repay me by the start of February. However, it’s been almost 20 days, and every time I ask for the money, she gives excuses and tells me to follow up in a few days, claiming she’ll pay me extra. I have a signed promissory note and a blank cheque from her, but I’m growing restless and can't wait any longer. What should I do?

I understand you're frustrated and concerned about the outstanding loan of Rs. 2 lakhs. Having a signed promissory note and a blank cheque is a good start, but it's time to take proactive steps to recover your money. Let's break down your options: . Negotiate: Before resorting to legal action, consider one more attempt at negotiation. Call her and politely reiterate your need for the money. While she's offered extra payment, focus on getting the principal amount back first. Document this conversation if possible. The best course of action depends on your comfort level with legal processes and the urgency of your need for the money. A cheque bounce case is faster but limited to the amount on the cheque. A civil suit is more comprehensive but takes longer. Don't delay. talked with lawyer and take possible steps, The longer you wait, the harder it might become to recover your money. Taking prompt action increases your chances of a successful outcome.

You can send a legal notice demanding repayment, citing the signed promissory note and blank cheque as evidence. If she fails to pay, you may file a recovery suit under Order 37 of CPC for a summary judgment.

Well, you lodge a Police Complaint and get that Complaint converted into a FIR to create a pressure upon her to repay your money back, moreover, you can file a Civil Suit against her under the concerned provisions of law to get your money back.

You can send a final notice from an Advocate to repay the amount. If ignored you may deposit the said cheque and if it bounces you may file a criminal complaint against her. most probably she will repay the amount after the strong notice.
