I have given money to friend only proof whatsapp

23-Dec-2025 (In Recovery Law)
I have WhatsApp proof only where he said he has to pay me. What are my chances of winning with no other proof because it was cash. There is no other proof other than where he said he will pay me in WhatsApp.

Yes, a WhatsApp message acknowledging liability or promising payment is legally admissible evidence under the Indian Evidence Act, 1872 (Sections 65A & 65B), provided proper certification is filed. Even if the transaction was in cash, an admission of debt made in writing (including electronic communication) has strong evidentiary value. Your chances of success depend on clarity of the WhatsApp chats—whether the other party clearly admits the amount, liability, and obligation to repay. Courts have consistently held that an admitted liability does not require further proof of the original transaction. You can safely proceed with: A legal notice for recovery, and A civil suit for recovery of money based on admission, or Summary proceedings where applicable. Absence of receipts is not fatal when there is a clear acknowledgment of debt. Preserve chats, metadata, and obtain a proper 65B certificate. Early legal action strengthens your position and prevents denial later.

According to your question we can file a suit for recovery where we have to show that chats as evidence. Basing on that we believe that the money will pay back from that person. If you want I’ll assist you in this case.
