Well, you cannot do anything, as you yourself acted as the Surety or Guarantor for your friend, that, in case, if your friend does not able to pay the loan, you would pay your friend's loan through your Credit Card! So, if you are unable to pay money now, you can try to file a Bankruptcy Petition in Court.

First if you have proof that you lend money to your friend, file an FIR. Second you can't back out from paying the dues of the credit card, however the Credit Card companies also look forward to settle the dues as soon as possible- you can approach them with negotiation talks or either apply in Lok adalat to settle the dues for minimum amount.
