Contractor Asking more money to build a house.

08-Oct-2023 (In Recovery Law)
We haven't signed any agreement. By trusting the contractor, given full contract to him to build my house . We made deal to build the house in 70 lakhs. He took 70 lakhs and now asking more money to complete the house. 20% work is still remaining. What should I do? I wish we would have made an agreement.

Please note that even oral agreements, upon satisfaction of certain conditions, are valid and enforceable contracts just like a written agreement. That’s answering the first part of your query where you might be apprehending that you are devoid of any legal remedy. You do have a legal remedy that you may chose to pursue. As far as the second part of your query is concerned with the inaction of contractor to complete the house, there are various remedies, including but not limited to damages, that can be worked around after reviewing all your available materials and records available in your case. Providing more information on the transaction and other correspondences between yourself and contractor will be a good starting point to discuss your case strategies.
