Can we deposit a cheque issued to us for loan recovery

Hand loan given to friend.- some amt given in cash and some amount deposited in their account. (have deposit acknowledgement ).) Friend issued a cheque to me while taking the loan. friend not retuned money . They blocked my number, not in the old address. I am not able to reach /contact them. So can i deposit that cheque to recover my amount without their consent. Will they file any case against me? As i don't have proofs for total amount, But eye witnesses are there.

hi yes you could use that cheque to deposit the money in the account and if it is bounced then you could send them legal notice to pay the money and if they failed to pay it then you could file cheque bounce case im the competent court
