Borrowed money by female friend

I gave Borrow money to a girl, she was my friend. When I asked for the money, she didn't return it. When I went to the police, the police called and she said that she and I were in a relationship, so why the money?

A loan to a friend remains a valid civil debt regardless of the relationship status—the “we were dating” claim is not a legal defense against repayment. The police’s reluctance to register an FIR doesn’t prevent you from pursuing civil recovery. File a money recovery suit in the appropriate civil court or approach the Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT) if the amount qualifies. Alternatively, if you can establish dishonest intent or false promises at the time of the loan, you may frame it as criminal cheating under Section 420 IPC and file a separate complaint. Gather evidence: loan messages, payment records, witness testimony, or written acknowledgment of the debt. A formal demand notice through an advocate will strengthen your position before litigation. The relationship claim is irrelevant to contractual obligations—pursue this aggressively through civil channels.

give her a legal notice and ask for your money back, and seek for recovery of money in suit before city civil court mumbai, get a recovery certificate against her if she is not giving you the money or in between if she is ready to pay you can settle it and withdraw your case any time otherwise if police is not entertaining you civil is the case for you
