The legal heirs can be made responsible only to the extent of the estate of the deceased, i.e. the value of the property/money that they received after your customers death. You can file a suit for recovery impleading the legal heirs on the basis of your invoices but you can no way make them personally responsible. It may also be pointed out that if your customer has given you a cheque payment before his death, you cannot initiate proceedings under criminal law, as it comes to end with the death of your customer and his legal heirs are not responsible for the same.

Your query is incomplete. Some more details need to answer properly to your query.
However death of principal borrower will not bar creditor to resort recovery even from legal heirs depending on the documents and to the extent of the property inherited by them from the deceased.
You can file recovery suit which is a speedy remedy if you have proper documents.

Hi,
In your case my answer is Yes, legal heirs are responsible for lawful debt which is owed by their acestors.
And in your case first need to know some facts, which type of debts he owed to you, is it relate to business or personal?
After knowing all the fact, can guide you more accurately for the same.
