What is procedure to buy and sell a property for a Foreign citizen

10-Jul-2023 (In Property Law)
Hello! I am a foreigner, I am going to marry an Indian citizen and move to India. I am going to buy a flat in Chandigarh. I need details: can I be the owner of my flat in India after marriage? Is it true that I will be able to sell it only after 3 years of my purchase? How long will the process of buying a flat take for me? Which documents do I need to buy a flat in India?

Your passport is required to buy the property in India. This is not condition precedent that you may sell it only after 3 years. It depend upon nature of property. If property is on lease hold basis then there may be certain conditions bit if property is free hold property you may sell it immediate after your purchase. For more info you may connect with me.

hello, if you marry an Indian citizen you can apply for Indian citizenship immediately and as soon as you become an Indian citizen you can buy property in your name. The process of buying a property is not too long and will take one or two days once we know who is the buyer and who is the seller and we do have all the documents of the previous ownership with us. There is nothing like you have to wait for three years before you could sell the property you bought in India
