transfer of immovable property

my flat is owned my father, he passed away last year, within how much period I should complete formalities to transfer the ownership. Which documents I need for it. what is procedure to complete the transfer. We are living in co-operative society, already no nomination is made and there is yet no sale deed, only agreement papers is there. then what is the legal formality.
you have to make heirship certificate initially which will make all the formalities go easy for your in the society as well as in the other procedure to make the property trnasfer im your name and that it shall be done immediately so that there should be no issues in the procedure later on
