Staying in property for 3 generation around 90 yrs. Can they evict us

18-Sep-2023 (In Property Law)

Our landlord is a lady. We have been staying on rent for 2-3 generations now. Now they are selling the property to someone developer. Now when we went to give rent they denied taking it. Can they evict us forcefully? We don't have any agreement with that respect. We have been staying in the same property for almost 90-100 years now.

Dear Concerned,

Under the law of the land, normally, a landlord has full right to recover his / her possession from his / her tenant. However, this right is subject to a number of conditions and the actual eviction can be resisted on many grounds which depend on the facts and circumstances of the case. This is a settled law that once a tenant is always a tenant.your landlady or new buyer can't evict you forcefully.She/He will have to file a case against your eviction in court.you need to meet your lawyer immediately for making your case strong.
