If your father in law has made a will then being his self acquired property it will go as per his will. If not his daughter is having rights over the property just as his other sons, if any. You have not told whether your father in law is alive or not.

while father is alive nobody (daughter son married .unmarried ) has any right in his self acquired property . if he dies without making will it immediately becomes ancestral property for legal heirs and all children (sons .daughters ,married and unmarried and wife) all have equal right . they all have rights if the will was by father then it is OK apart from that all property is to be divided equally . son also will get equal in the remaining also .
