Regarding my maternal grandmother’s property
14-Jun-2023 (In Property Law)
I am Hindu by religion. This is about my maternal grandmother’s property. It was in her name but she has passed away. Now, my mother’s brother(Mama) is saying us that my mother has to sign the paper so that he can transfer the property on his name. But we don’t want to sign and also don’t want any amount from that. But we don’t want to sign the papers. I want to know is there any other way for him to transfer the property on his name without us signing?
The property since belonged to your maternal grandmother that's why after her death all the children have equal share alognwith your maternal grandfather if he is alive otherwise all the children have equal share. The transfer can only be made by your mother signing a relinquishment deed in their favor wherein she relinquishes or give away her right or share in the property in favor of someone else who has to be one of the legal heir. There is no other way of getting it transferred by your maternal uncle in his name.
