My rights to stay in a house owned by my mother who is no more

13-Sep-2023 (In Property Law)
I have two sisters married and well settled with their own houses. I live for past 20 years in our house owned by my mother and after her death I and my family continue to live over there. I dont have any residential property of my own. My sisters are asking me to vacate so that the house can be sold. I dont have any job and my wife's salary is taking care of the family. What are my rights to retain the house without vacating till my death?.

As the right of children's in the property of their mother largely depends upon the personal law. Mostly the personal laws are related to the religion of the person. If a female (mother) dies intestate, the property devolves among the legal heirs as per provision of Personal Laws. The Children & Husband of the deceased women (mother) have equal inheritance rights. A son can therefore, claim a right in the self-earned property of his mother, if the mother has died intestate. Both son & daughter have equal rights.

if your mother has not return any will you have the write like your sister's over the house in which you are staying right now. but just because you lived there for 20 years are that you do not have any other place to go doesn't mean that you have right there .
