Does a treasurer have to attend functions, not funded by society fund

29-Sep-2023 (In Property Law)
I am a treasurer of a cooperative housing society in Pune, wagholi and the committee members claim that I am derelict in my duties because I do not like attending the ganpati and navratri functions held. The functions are held by the members by personal contribution and no funds of the society are used. It is a volunteer function and yet they associate self volunteer function attendance with duties of a treasure. what does the maharashtra cooperative society act say about participation in building functions - are they mandatory if not paid by society funds?

Dear Querist,
There is no mandate for treasurer or any person to attend any functions, as attending is a prerogative right of any person and not a compulsion on anybody. This should resolve your querry.

Dear Client,
As you all live in a society, you all together are a large family, hence it becomes your social responsibility to be together with others in both bad and good times.
Further, as per law there is nothing mandatory to attend individual events. You are free to decide your way out.

Hello, the Maharashtra co-operative do not whisper about the said act of yours so the answer is no it is not mandatory for treasurer to attend such functions which are not organised by the body of the said society. Therefore nothing to worry.
