Father has absolute rights to deal with the self acquired property during his life time and can also will the devolution of the same in whatever manner he desires. Children would get rights only in the event of his dying intestate.

Madam,
A Hindu or any other will not get an automatic right on self acquired property of father or mother when such father or mother are alive. However, if you can show proof that the property in question was purchased by them from out of a source which is ancestral.
