Can a film theater be opened in a residential area ?

Can a film theater be opened in residential area like colony? or there is any law against it?

It will depend on the local municipal laws of the place. A private theatre would not be an issue but a commercial film theatre would ideally be allowed only in commercial arears earmarked by the Municipality. The requisite permissions from the concerned state departments would be necessary.

no it is not allowed,

No commercial activity is allowed in the residential area, thus, film theatre is not allowed.

However, if you planning to open FUll Cinema, like PVR, Sangam, Rivoli etc for that you have to take commercial plot of the same and thereafter, with the approval of the GOvt you can run the same

Film theater is commercial activity, hence it may not be operated from a residential colony, unless competent authority/Municipal corporation allows permission/ change in land use for running film theater from residential area.
