For your situation

1. The "Women (Protection Of- Rights On Divorce) Act, 1986" explains "the
protection of the rights of Muslim women who have been divorced by, or have obtained divorce from, their husbands." Section (a) of the said Act says that divorced woman is entitled to have maintenance from her former husband, and the husband must do so within the period of idda and his obligation is not confined to the period of idda.

Idda Period (Waiting Period of Muslim Woman after divorce)
------------------------------------------------------------------

a) Idda is 3 menstrual cycles for the divorcee who is not pregnant and menstruating

b) The Idda period for the divorcee who isn’t menstruating for those three
consecutive ISLAMIC months

c) If the divorcee is pregnant the Idda will extend until the delivery

2. Maintenance of children is a responsibility of the father regardless of whether he remains married to his children’s mother or divorces children’s mother. Maintenance of children includes accommodation, food, clothing and education depending on father’s financial condition.
