Police authorities not providing with copy of FIR and challan papers

Sir my father had been died due to motor accident on 22 January 1986 at Bizpur Kolkata on military duty.Sir now I want from police station Final Investigation Report copy and challan papers copy. I filled an application of RTI.But Bizpur police station did not provide documents me.Because they said since more than 30 years passed from the recording of the FIR no documents could be trace in c/w the case. As such nothing can be supplied. Sir please suggest me according law.Can I not get these document found.
why do you need the documents after so long? It is difficult to find old FIR or challan papers but certainly not impossible. The Indian Army also maintains record of its personnel, have you tried to get the copy of FIR/ Criminal Case from them? We can also approach the Court concerned to that Police Station and try to retrieve the FIR physically. Let me know if you need any help.
