Father met with an accident.person who hit promised to pay but didn't

my father met with an accident 4 days before one of his rib broke in accident, the person who hit my father first said that he will bear the amount for treatment and for the vehicle damage it was calculated Rs 20000, they agreed to pay first and said to us dont file a complaint. The next day they said to us they will pay only 15000 to that also we agreed.Now he is saying he will pay only 7000 he is coming with a local politician who has close contact with the Sub Inspector of the concerned police station to that police is also agreeing what should i do now please suggest me what should i do
You should ensure that an FIR has been registered against that person. Refuse to settle the matter if the amount itself will not be of much help to you.
Let the courts proceed with the criminal case against him.
You may claim compensation separately before the Motor Accidents Claims Tribunal. If the vehicle was insured then the insurance company will be made liable to pay.
